The Occupational Health and Safety Act (“OHSA” or “the Act”) is Ontario’s legislation for workplace health and safety. There are also 27 regulations under the OHSA.
The OHSA and its regulations and all of Ontario’s other Acts and regulations are available on the e-Laws website.
A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) is composed of worker and employer representatives. Together, we mutually commit to improving health and safety conditions in the workplace. The committee identifies potential health and safety issues and brings them to the employer’s attention.
Local 5480 members may contact the Staff Co-Chair for Joint Health and Safety concerns in the Workplace.
